Captain Marvel was a member of the Avengers. She had a pet Flerkens named Chewie.[1] When Carol had disappeared from the planet following an army of Flerkens appearing on the streets of the New York City, her best friend Jessica Drew asked the Guardians of the Galaxy for help, who took her and Chewie to Carol's location in another part of the galaxy. Upon finding Carol, Jess, Chewie and the Guardians helped her destroy a Kree signal beacon that was mind-controlling the Flerkens.[2]
While Carol was giving driving lessons to Nadia Van Dyne, they were attacked by A.I.M. and hit with a shrinking.[3] After G.I.R.L. were unable to fix their condition, Carol and Nadia uncovered an A.I.M. plot to permanently shrink all Avengers at the same time.[4] Since Carol was unable to use her Binary powers in her shrunken state, Nadia outfitted her with Janet Van Dyne's original Wasp's Suit. Together they snuck into A.I.M. headquarters and reversed the polarity of the shrinking ray, returning to their normal size and preventing other Avengers from dealing with the same problem.[5]
Along with Doctor Strange and Thor, Carol was trapped inside the Ruby Egress by Count Nefaria, where they were forced to fight the others trapped inside while the environment itself increased their rage.[6]
