- —Cassandra Nova[src]
History
Origins[]
This variant of Cassandra Nova Xavier was an Omega level mutant and the twin sister of Charles Xavier, who she tried to strangle in the womb with her umbilical cord. Not long after she and Charles were born, Cassandra was deemed a danger to the multiverse by the Time Variance Authority, and was banished to the Void.
As she grew into an adult, Cassandra found the barren, ruined wasteland the ideal place to explore and perfect her telekinetic abilities and tactile telekinesis without restraint, though her isolation and immense power made her cruel and greedy.[1]
Reign in the Void[]
Over the course of several years, Cassandra amassed a community of variants, many of them mutants, who had been banished to the Void, and ruled over them with an iron fist with her powers, operating out of the enlarged corpse of an Ant-Man variant. She even amassed an army of Deadpool variants known as the Deadpool Corps. A small resistance was formed against her, but they could barely withstand her power and were sent to hide in the woods.
Cassandra eventually came into contact with rogue TVA agent Mr. Paradox, who made a deal with her that she could rule the Void as she pleased, as a way of keeping her at bay. However, she came into possession of a Sling Ring from a Doctor Strange variant, and so, unbeknownst to the TVA, could leave the Void any time she pleased.[1]
Conflict with Deadpool and Wolverine[]
Eventually, Cassandra's scavenger convoy, led by Pyro, brought to her the Johnny Storm variant who had worked with the Resistance against her, along with newly-arrived variants of the Wolverine and Deadpool. After she killed Johnny, Cassandra took interest in Wolverine, given his connection to a version of her brother, and revealed she had a way to send them home. However, she refused to do so, and so the pair fought through her forces and managed to escape.
The next day, Deadpool and Wolverine returned with the rest of the Resistance, and together they stormed Cassandra's fortress. Wolverine managed to confront her face to face, but she entered his mind and saw all his pain and grief over having failed his world and losing his X-Men. Immediately after emotionally connecting with Wolverine, she was shot and nearly killed by Pyro, but saved by Wolverine and Deadpool. Out of gratitude, she used the Sling Ring to form a portal back to Deadpool's timeline, Earth-10005, and sent them through it.
Cassandra then interrogated Pyro, who explained that he had been working for Mr. Paradox, and that the TVA faction he operated was building a Time Ripper to destroy Earth-10005. Enticed by the possibilities, Cassandra had Pyro take her to the Time Ripper on Earth-10005, planning to use it to destroy every timeline in the multiverse leaving only the Void. She unleashed the Deadpool Corps on Wolverine and Deadpool, and made her way to the Time Ripper to activate it, but Wolverine and Deadpool were only slowed down by the Deadpool Corps, and destroyed the Time Ripper as it was charging, disintegrating Cassandra.[1]Attributes
Powers
Cassandra Nova was an Omega Level Mutant with the powers of:
- Telekinesis: Cassandra possesses the power to move, stop, and manipulate objects. She has reacted and stopped both Wolverine and Deadpool, who tried to kill her. Using this power, she removed all skin from Johnny Storm's body with only a gesture of her hand.
- Intangibility: By manipulating her own molecular structure, Cassandra can move herself through solid matter. She is able to use this offensively, allowing her to phase through people to cause internal damage.
- Regeneration: Cassandra can mentally stimulate her own body to heals faster than a normal human. Thanks to this superhumanly regenerative "healing factor", she has been able to completely recover from injuries which would prove fatal to most humans, even those with superhuman abilities.
- Tactile Telepathy: While making physical contact with her victim, Cassandra can enter, manipulate, and alter people's mindscape with or without the targets' agreement, as well as telepathically experience their memories and thoughts.
- Psionic Blasts: Cassandra can project a powerful psychic blast that can hit her target mentally or physically.
