As there have been many encounters with aliens claiming to be from the planet Mars, and contradictory histories and motivations of other visitors, many groups claiming or stated to be from Mars may in fact be from other worlds, the terms "Mars" and "Martian" possibly being used as euphemisms for beings from another world.^[1]
