History

Cedric Harrison was a classmate of Adam Blackveil and Kevin Connor's freshman year at ESU.[2] They all lived on the same floor of Osborn Hall.[3] Cedric also grew up across the street from Miles Morales.[1]

Cedric ran into Miles at the Coffee Bean when the latter was visiting ESU with his mentor Peter Parker, who was an alumnus. He spotted an ad that was seeking out paid volunteers for beta testing and later called the number provided.[1] The beta test turned out to be a plot created by Arcade and Mentallo to lure unwitting participants for their illusion-making machine called the Arcadium, where they could gain information from their victims by attaching them to the Arcadium and making them live out their fantasies.

In Cedric's simulation, he was in a relationship with his classmate Shelly Conklin. Believing the experience was real, Cedric visited the Coffee Bean for another date with Shelly, which confused her and led to a fight between Cedric and Shelly's boyfriend Kenny Kong. Cedric angrily stormed off to return to the Arcadium. He was followed by Miles and Peter in their Spider-Men disguises, who were suspicious of Cedric's change in demeanor.[4] Within his simulation, Cedric continued his relationship with Shelly[5] which resulted in them getting married until the Arcadium was disabled by the Spider-Men, which freed him from its influence.[6] Cedric and the other Arcadium survivors began attending group therapy together after they were left traumatized by the ordeal. During one of the sessions, Cedric profusely apologized to both Kenny and Shelly for his behavior.[7]

Notes

  • Given that Cedric and Miles Morales are childhood acquaintances, it is possible that he isn't native to Earth-616, but rather one of the inhabitants of Earth-1610 who were displaced to Earth-616 following the events of Secret Wars, when the Molecule Man transplanted Miles' life, including his social circle and family, to Earth-616, as if they had always existed there.
