The Celebrity Five

The Celebrity Five are five humans who serve Loki. They helped him pull off his attack on the Raft and trap the Avengers in DISKs. They also secured all supervillains at the Raft in DISKs in order to force them into becomming Loki's soldiers. After an accident causes all DISKs to get scattered around the world, they are tasked by Loki to collect them before the Avengers and their partners can do so.

All members of the Celebrity Five have a biocode installed in their body, and are thus able to release villains from the DISKs at will. In this regard they serve as evil counterparts of the Avengers' young partners, Akira, Hikaru, Chris, Jessica and Edward. All members have prominent jobs in daily life, which sometimes interferes with their missions for Loki.

When Loki is initially defeated in the battle at his Ice Palace, the five are arrested by the police. Crossbones breaks them out of prison transport, but only to steal their Biocodes. After their biocodes are stolen, all five of them are forced by Red Skull to join Hydra and help guard the Gaia Anchor on the Raft. When Edward Grant and Hulk come to the Raft to destroy the anchor, the Celebrity Five actually help them accomplish this goal by giving Ed the DISK of Power Man and helping him get deeper inside the complex. After Red Skull is defeated and all Hydra soldiers are arrested, the five use this opportunity to escape from the organization.

By this point however, their reputations are already ruined since everybody now knows they worked with Loki. While raiding their old lair for anything usefull, Loki contacts them again from the dimension he has been banished to. He restores their biocodes and orders the 5 to prepare for his return to Earth. For this end, he has them team up with his new henchman, Ronin, to steal the Treasures of Darkness: relics that can grant glorious power but also great suffering to whoever owns them all. These Treasures are needed to powerup the Dark Gate device and open a portal to the Dark Dimension, which will not only release Loki, but also his new master Dormammu. Loki promises all of them a seat in Dormammu's council once he conquers Earth.[1] The five succeed in their plan despite interferenc from the Avengers. However, once the portal is opened, Dormammu sucks all five villains into the Dark Dimension.[2]

After both Loki and Dormammu are defeated, the Five somehow escape the Dark Dimension again, and at the end of the series they are still at large. How they escaped remains unknown, but it is suggested Loki had something to do with it.[3]
