The cocktail of substances have also been imperfect through the early phases of experimentation, and subjects have become terminally unstable like the original Extremis carriers before them. In Mike Peterson's case the explosive side effect has been apparently rendered inert by the effects of a Night-Night Gun. Other users were later protected by use of Scorch's blood.[2]
