The Centum is an organization composed of the 100 immortal scientists known as Centivars. They serve The-Natural-Order-of-Things and are the collective counterparts of the Avatar of The-Powers-That-Be.[1][2] They are based at the House of Ranks and Numbers.[3]
History
To recruit for potential members, the Centum offered seemingly ordinary jobs at a lab with subtle clues that there was something deeper and looked for those curious enough to dig into it. Aiko Maki was recruited this way and she was offered the position of the Ninety-Seventh Centivar. However, she had to leave her husband Wyn, as he was the Avatar, to prevent a war between The-Natural-Order-of-Things and The-Powers-That-Be.[1]
A decade later, the Centum and Doctor Strange rallied many of Earth's heroes to stop a Babylon Event started by the Proto-Mage Cubisk Core. Over half of the Centum died during this battle. Following this, the three remaining Primes—Second (Saint-Maur Cercle), Nineteenth, and Ninety-Seventh (Aiko Maki)—gathered to discuss next steps. The-Natural-Order-of-Things spoke to and briefly possessed Second, warning the Primes about the threat of Oblivion and demanding them to gather strength.[4]
Known Members[]
Each Centivar is numbered. Prime numbers seem to have a greater importance. Furthermore, each Centivar is associated with a shape.[1]
