History
This unnamed Ch'i-Lin, much like the rest of its species, craved the egg of Shou-Lao the Undying. Taking advantage of the demon's hunger, Quan Yaozu of the Eighth City sent this Ch'i-Lin to hunt down Iron Fists on their 33rd birthday when their chi matured to siphon their chi for himself. The Ch'i-Lin would use a variety of human hosts to confront the Iron Fists.[2][3]
In 1878, in Texas, this Ch'i-Lin ambushed the Iron Fist Kwai Jun-Fan by mind controlling several civilians into attacking him. Kwai fought them off but was ultimately killed by the Ch'i-Lin through his host Zhou Cheng. The Ch'i-Lin then left its host and used Kwai's body as a portal to travel to Shou-Lao's cave in K'un-Lun, but was confronted by Lei-Kung the Thunderer and a hundred of his soldiers. After a long battle, the Ch'i-Lin reached the egg and nearly bit into it, but Lei-Kung cut off its lower jaw, forcing it to travel back to Zhou Cheng, in Texas, to recover.[4][5]
In 1937, Zhou attempted to hunt down that era's Iron Fist, Orson Randall, for the Ch'i-Lin, but Randall managed to evade them by injecting himself with heroin to dampen his chi.[6]
Over 70 years later, the Ch'i-Lin and Zhou attacked the current Iron Fist Danny Rand on his 33rd birthday, but were stopped by the combined efforts of Rand, Luke Cage, the Daughters of the Dragon, and the Immortal Weapons. When Zhou was killed by Rand, the Ch'i-Lin abandoned his body.[7]
A year later, the Ch'i-Lin made Razor Fist its next host and attacked Danny Rand on his 34th birthday under the orders of Quan.[8][9] Although Rand had since given up the power of the Iron Fist, the Ch'i-Lin wanted to make up for its failure to kill him on his previous birthday. In the end, the Ch'i-Lin did succeed in killing Rand and began plotting to kill Rand's successor Lin Lie and Rand's ward Pei.[9] It's unknown what happened to the Ch'i-Lin after Danny was resurrected as Ghost Fist and killed Quan, which also resulted in the other members of its species disappearing.[10]Attributes
