He used to extort enormous wealth from the merchants upon threat of death, without any interference from the provincial governor, and to routinely abduct the wives and daughters of the townsfolk, using them to satiate his bestial lust. Before Conan's arrival in Ramuda, a valiant few had already attempted in vain to end the baron's reign of terror. He once had a wizened old Nemedian mage murdered, and made off with his magic globe and book of spells, practicing ever since to attain at least a working mastery of the mystic arts. Eventually confronted by Conan, he couldn't do much to protect his demon servant, Mrrsgarn, and was quickly defeated by the Cimmerian, who let him finish to the angry mob.[55] |
