History
Charles Bentley was a writer for Marvel Comics[1] who bought an enchanted typewriter that could bring the monster's in his stories to life. First he wrote of a sea serpent and wass visited by navel intelligence who wanted to learn how he got wind of classified information. They searched his apartment, but not finding anything, they chalked it up to coincidence. Later, Bentley wrote a story about a two-headed flying creature and was visited by the air force. They, too, wished to know how he learned of secret happenings but again accepted it as coincidence. Lastly, he wrote of X, an invader from another dimension. When he saw that X was really menacing the city, he realized his writing was bringing the creatures to life and wrote an ending for X, but it didn't effect the monster. Bentley realized it must be the typewriter itself, infused with magic power, but X attacked him before he could type out the ending. In desperation, he seized the typewriter and hurls it through the window. With the typewriter smashed, X faded away.[2]
