Professor X is one of the many Champions at the Summoners' disposal in the Contest of Champions held in the Battlerealm.

History

Originally believing mutants and humans could coexist in peace, Professor X abandoned his old dreams after Moira MacTaggert revealed to him that mutantkind would inevitably die if he didn't change his ways. So, under his rule, the mutant nation of Krakoa was founded. And those who defy the nation must enter the Mindscape and face Professor X in a duel of mental strength.

Contest of Champions

Like many others before and after him, Professor X was captured by the Collector and taken to the Battlerealm to participate the Contest of Champions. His body was healed to allow him to walk again and take part in the fights, but he used his powers to escape the cosmic game instead. Avoiding detection by the Maestro, Professor X searched for a place to build a home for all the mutants of Battlerealm, ultimately finding the mutant island Krakoa. After attuning his mind to its fauna and flora, he crafted a new, compact version of Cerebro and, with his powers greatly amplified by it, concealed Krakoa's location from every mind in Battlerealm.

Professor X subsequently put his plan to ensure mutantkind's future into motion. First, he located Apocalypse's sarcophagus and awoke him to ask for his help in turning Krakoa into a mutant paradise, to which Apocalypse accepted. Then, he requested an agonizing research from Mister Sinister. Next, he requisitioned technological advancements on mutant cloning from Mojo. Finally, he used the Flowers of Krakoa to produce a drug capable of curing incurable diseases, remedying chronic maladies, and prolonging life.

Rise of X

When the time to reveal Krakoa came, Professor X broadcast a message into the mind of every citizen of the Battlerealm, proposing to give the drug he produced to those who recognized the sovereignity of his island nation. Meanwhile, Apocalypse discovered the attrocities Sinister and Mojo had committed against mutants on Xavier's behalf, and tried to burn Krakoa down before escaping to a desert somewhere nearby it.
