Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator who completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean, opening the way for the widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americas. His expeditions, sponsored by the Spanish, were the first European contact with the Caribbean, Central America, and South America beginning the Spanish Empire.
History
Early Life[]
A man from the 20th Century went back in time to steal Christopher Columbus' fame as the era's European discoverer of the New World, but failed to get anyone interested in his idea before he died, except - ironically - Columbus himself.[3]
Nostradamus, while working for the Brotherhood of the Shield, predicted Columbus' voyage and the discovery of the Americas.[4]
1492[]
Following Columbus's persistent lobbying to multiple kingdoms, Catholic monarchs Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand II agreed to sponsor his journey West.[5]
On August 3rd, 1492,[2] Columbus left Spain in the Santa Maria from the port of Palos de la Frontera.[2] However on August 2nd, 1492, the night before, the ship's cook and friend to Columbus, Federico Valencia, was attacked and turned by a vampire, forcing him to find a last minute replacement cook.[2]
A time travelling Hulk appeared on the Santa Maria while on the hunt for Fin Fang Foom. The two battled, allowing the ships to continue on their journey with nothing but tales of sea monsters.[6]
A member of the crew of the Pinta named Gideon succumbed to scurvy. However, Gideon recovered as they reached the New World, his nature as a mutant External allowing himself to be resurrected.[7]
That year, Columbus visited an island whom he named Boca Caliente due to its sweltering heat and humidity, making it a Spanish colony (until 1898).[1]
1498[]
Columbus landed on Boriquén, an island in the Caribbean Sea, sometime around the year 1498. Spanish forces committed genocide on the Boriquén people. Horrified, Diablo fought back against the invaders slaying all those who came onto the island. With the Spanish were forced from the shores, Diablo appointed himself defender of the land, but resumed his travels across the world.[8]See Also
