History

The Cicada Stone is an ancient Babylonian idol that served as the key to the door in the Temple of Inanna that led to the M'kraan Crystal. When Inanna herself was banished from the Underworld, her sister Ereshkigal his the stone from her.[1] After the people using the M'kraan Crystal nearly ended themselves, the knowledge was entrusted to Dora Milaje to guard it with their lives, which they did for centuries.[2]

Shorlty before World War II, the Nazis, aided by Inanna herself going under the name of "Huma Bergmann" began the excavation of Uruk. However, she still requied a Dora Milaje to use the stone. Meanwhile, Doctor Heinrich Hellstrom stole the stone[2] and it made it its way to Inanna's sister Ereshkigal, now living in New York City under name "Holly Babson".[1] Her mortal form was killed, but the Cicada Stone was recovered by Peter Parker. While investigating the mystery, he unwittingly took the stone to the sister of the victim "Huma", who invited him to accompany her to Europe.[3]

By the time they reached the excavation site, "Huma"'s allegiance with the Nazis were revealed, but Parker gained unexpected allies in the Wakandan spy Hu-Ri and Russian operative known only as "Checkpoint Red". Together they fought the Nazis, but the in process Inanna tricked Hu-Ri into using the Cicada Stone, opening the gate to the Underworld.[2] It was closed by Parker after he took the Cicada Stone and connected it to the M'kraan Crystal. This made the Crystal vulnerable and a well-placed shot from his pistol destroyed both it and Inanna.[1]
