History

Cogmium is a unique metal alloy invented by Oracle Inc., noted for its characteristics of being a "metal with a memory," and its capability to easily morph into small blocks, making them easy to transport. It can also morph back into the original shape of its manufacture when necessary. When a supply of Cogmium was stored during a midnight conclave held by some of Oracle's members, the A.I.M. spy and thief Highwayman crashed in and attempted to steal it for the terrorist organization, only for his mission to be intervened by the superhero Iron Fist. After a brief but brutal fight with Iron Fist, the Highwayman was defeated by the superhero before he was ultimately handed over to Oracle Security, who arrested him afterwards for his crimes that was his attempt on stealing the Cogmium.[1]

Alternate Reality Versions[]

Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-199999)[]

In this reality, Cogmium is a metal alloy that can be used in conjunction with steel to create a reparative alloy capable of bonding to bone. It was used by Dr. Oyama for an experimental surgery on Benjamin Poindexter, who had his back broken by Wilson Fisk. Fisk pulverized the vertebrae in Poindexter's spine, rendering him paralyzed. As a result, Poindexter agreed to undergo a restorative surgery by Dr. Oyama, knowing of the risks the surgery held, including permanent paralysis. In the surgery, Dr. Oyama used an experimental treatment of binding a Cogmium-steel alloy to the vertebrae of Poindexter's spine, allowing for the spine to be repaired properly.[2]
