Synopsis for "Combat Casey"

Continued from last issue...

After the death of the Snake Lady of Sinyong, Combat Casey and Penny Pennington are about to flee with secret Chinese plans hidden on fake snake skins when they are surrounded by enemy soldiers who seek to recover the stolen plans. Combat and Penny fight back, but the snake skins are destroyed when one of the enemy soldiers who managed to snatch them away lands on a live grenade.

Watching as the last of the Snake Lady's snakes crawl away, Combat and Penny correctly deduce that they are heading back to the secret enemy base and follow. The snakes steer them to the right place but they are soon ambushed again and taken prisoner by an officer named Mokeui who tries to force Combat to drive a truck loaded with explosives over a bridge where American troops are scheduled to cross. Combat pretends to comply to save Penny's life, but instead he turns the truck around and jams it into the cave entrance of the enemy base.

Furious Mokeui shoots Combat and tries to put out the fuse. With his back turned, Mokeui is unable to stop Penny from pulling Combat to safety. The enemy soldier fails to put out the fuse and the explosives go off destroying the secret base and killing Mokeui in the blast. With Combat's wound only being superficial, the pair then flee the scene and head back to base.

Synopsis for "Combat Casey"

June 10, 1943; Combat and Penny are part of the "All-American" 82nd Airborne Division aboard C-47 gliders swooping into Nazi lines heading south west into Sicily. However heavy winds force them to land off course. Their glider lands them in the middle of a Nazi Bivouac area and they catch the Germans by surprise and make short work of them. Needing to get to a nearby beech to clean out Nazi forces so their fellow soldiers can land on the beach, they rush ahead on foot.

Climbing a mountain they see a number of wrecked gliders, and when they get to the ridge they spot a Nazi convoy heading for the beech. Taking the wrecked gliders, they send them crashing down knocking down many of the tanks and supply trucks turning them into fiery wrecks. Combat and Penny then take the last functional glider and load it up with grenades and do a sweeping pass over the last of the convoy, destroying it with grenades before being forced to crash into a nearby tree, but the pair managed to bail out unscathed.
