Synopsis for "Combat Casey"

Combat Casey and Penny Pennington are in the thick of battle when their ammunition runs out. With more enemy troops advancing on them, Combat Casey does what he does best -- enters into the fray with fists flying. Winning the battle the pair rush back to American lines where their commanding officer assigns them to guard a engineering outfit that is working out of the Kasui forest, much to Combat's dismay, as he believes that such a detail will be devoid of any action.

When they report for duty at the engineering camp, they are advised that they are to defend the engineers from any attacks from the Chinese army. Out on patrol, Combat vents his frustration until Penny comes across something of interest. Combat is unimpressed when the excitement turns out to be the discovery of bee hives. While Penny tries to explain to him the beauty of bees, Combat is not interested in the nature lesson.

Suddenly, one of the bulldozers is blown up as a troop of Chinese soldiers advances on the engineers. Combat and Penny try to defend as best they can but realize that they are outnumbered. Penny suddenly comes up with the idea of using the bees to help them defend the area. Wrapping their faces in mosquito mesh and putting on engineering gloves, the two soldiers lob the bee hives at the enemy. When the bee hives break open the bees savagely attack the Chinese soldiers sending them fleeing into the night, stopping the attack.

Soon their commanding officer arrives and unaware of how Penny and Combat forced the enemy back chastises them for "goofing off" and orders them back to their posts.

Synopsis for "Combat Casey"

Combat Casey and Penny Pennington find themselves once more surrounded by the enemy and completely out of ammunition, forcing the pair to fight their foes with their bare hands. Observing the fight is a commanding officer who orders his troops to capture the two Americans alive. Although they are eventually over powered and taken prisoner, Combat manages to land a humiliating blow to the Chinese commander by throwing a bucket of tar on him. Combat and Penny are tied to wooden stakes and are interrogated about the number of troops they have in the area, threatening to the two soldiers with a knife. Combat, however, is not the slightest bit intimidated and spits in the commander's face.

The pair are smacked around and then left out in the boiling sun to roast. As they wait for their captors to come back, Penny begins questioning what the current date is. However before Combat can find out why, some of the Chinese soldiers come to pay their respects as they have come to view the pair as brave warriors. The commanding officer returns and orders his men to get back to their posts and continues the interrogation. Penny then speaks up, warning the Chinese commander to let them go or he will blot out the sun. While the commanding officer does not believe Penny, his soldiers are shaken by the comments. Just then there is a solar eclipse. The enemy soldiers, frightened by this spectacle, kill their commander and set Combat and Penny loose.

As they flee the eclipse ends, they run into their troop, but soon the Chinese soldiers counter attack. Quickly grabbing a gun, Combat mows them down. In the aftermath, Penny explains to Combat and their commanding officer he knew that there was an eclypse that was scheduled, but he couldn't recall the exact date. Combat is as little shocked by this, and gravely considers what might have happened if Penny had been wrong about the date.
