Synopsis for "Part One"
Conan is a merc in the service of the Aquilonian army during a skirmish against the Vanir. They are victorious and Conan requests a favor of his general that he spare one of the Vanir wenches from crucifixion in order to serve as his spearmaiden. She laughs uproariously to learn that the army's next target will be Conan's homeland.
Notes
- This limited series reprised and retconned the events of how Conan usurped the throne of Aquilonia. Due to the large number of inconsistencies between this series and the established lore, it was ruled out of chronology by the Marvel Chronology Project.[3]
Trivia
- The Vanir are consistently depicted as blonde-haired, which is supposed to be the Aesir's distinctive feature, the Vanir being usually red-haired.
- The Vanir's surrender is somewhat reminiscent of some depictions of the Gallic chieftain Vercingetorix to Julius Caesar.
