Synopsis for "Fiends of the Flaming Mountains"
Conan and Red Sonja are on Horse back ear fiery geysers erupting in the wilderness near Koth’s eastern border which results in the injury of Red Sonja‘s horse, and the two of them continue on horseback together. There are troops from King Strabonus that are in hot pursuit. A battle continues with Sonja dismounting and attacking the surprised soldiers. Eventually, there are so many that both Sonja and Conan are subdued. Both being rendered unconscious, with perhaps a slight concussion that they recovered from rather quickly in a dungeon. There, Conan meets an old friend , Zula. It sounds like he’s been there for quite some time. Fortunately, he found an escape route in the cave and after securing some swords from the guards, the three of them take off into the depths of the Earth. There they are overwhelmed again by a different force of man-bat like creatures. The story recounts of when they met the man bats and of their origin with Morophla and Uathacht who were vampire like creatures. The man-bats now serve a new sorcerer Varnae!
