Synopsis for "Final Cut (Round 4)"
The Contest continues to narrow down the mightiest heroes. Deadpool beats Daredevil but has no chance when he has to go up against the Hulk. Black Widow takes out all of X-Force but then is immediately overpowered by Thor. Jean Grey, up against the Thing on the Blue Area of the Moon, lures her opponent beyond its artificial atmosphere to incapacitate him. Spider-Man outmaneuvers Domino. Captain America comes out the victor against Black Panther, but seemingly only because the Panther is becoming aware of his altered state and is preoccupied with struggling against it.
In the Acanti jungle, Iron Man's group continues to rescue and round up the other losers, restoring them with his rapidly replicating nanites. Meanwhile in the Brood lab, a mesmerized Rogue is led in for the next phase of the Queen's plan. When Rogue and the Brood Queen come in contact, the restrained Shadowcat briefly hopes it will backfire with only the power-draining mutant left standing. Unfortunately, while the Queen's body collapses, her voice in Rogue's form confirms which personality won dominance.
During the bout between Wolverine and Gambit, a rematch of sorts for the time Gambit humiliated Wolverine in the Danger Room, Rogue pays them a visit on the battlefield. Wolverine can sense the Brood Queen in her and tries to fight, but leaves himself open to Gambit's coup de grace. Teleporting back to the main arena, Rogue gathers and congratulates the seven other finalists of the Contest: Scarlet Witch, Hulk, Thor, Phoenix, Captain America, Spider-Man, and Gambit, all fully in nanite-induced thrall. Hidden up in the rafters, one other hero apparently lost in the shuffle, Hawkeye, takes aim at the suspiciously-behaving Rogue.
