That was hilarious, watching you walk in here thinking I needed some kinda handout. So eager to help people. Something I learned early in life, Ms. Allan: No good deed goes unpunished.

Corwin Jones[source]

History

Corwin Jones was a former soldier in the US military dishonorably discharged after an unknown incident which lead to an explosion, exposure to fumes from the explosion would leave Jones afflicted with a long-term illness that would eventually kill him. Jones was later recruited into Alchemax's Guardsmen, but was approached by the Life Foundation with a higher-paying job, with Carlton Drake personally tasking him with stealing Alchemax's samples of the Agony, Anti-Venom, Carnage, Lasher, Phage, Riot, Scream, and Toxin symbiotes to develop new cyborg-symbiote weapons called the Symbiotechs. He attacked Alchemax and managed to steal the symbiotes and shoot Liz Allan.[1]

Returning to the Life foundation, Drake proposed that he bond to the symbiotes, resulting in the creation of the Madness symbiote.[2] He was soon approached by Allan who tracked him down, and revealed his symbiote to her, subduing her and bringing her back with him to the Life Foundation.[3] However, Corwin soon lost control of the symbiotes due to not trusting them,[4] he fought Misery again and lost. Going into hiding, Jones visited his daughter, but remained a puppet to the symbiotes.[5]

Stupid #%@. When I raided Alchemax, I bugged your friend's wheelchair. I knew I'd missed a couple symbiotes. Imagine my surprise when I learned they had both bonded to you. I tell ya, it was enough to drive me to MADNESS!

Trivia

  • Jones' form while bonded to the Madness Symbiote, bears a resemblance to that of Venom's while he was infected with the Mercury Virus in Venom: The Madness miniseries, which caused him to grow multiple extra smaller heads. His codename Madness could also be a reference to said series.
