Not to be confused with Clan Akkaba.

Quote1 Akkaba was simply a place. The birthplace of one mutant--and a great many humans who cast him out. Quote2

History

Coven Akkaba was a group of human magic practictioners who once served Apocalypse, believing that their magic would make them equal to mutants in Apocalypse's eyes. They were wrong and Apocalypse rejected them. Coven Akkaba eventually became an anti-mutant group.[1]

In modern times, Coven Akkaba became based in the United Kingdom, claiming to serve Avalon, and accepted humans who had proven themselves into their ranks.[2] However, at least one of them claimed to be a descendant of the original humans from the Akkaba before Apocalypse.[3] They detest mutants (or witchbreeds) and allied themselves with Morgan Le Fay, who tried to rid them from Otherworld. They opposed Betsy Braddock (a mutant) as Captain Britain and later Jamie Braddock (another mutant) as King of Avalon.[4][5] They also joined forces with Orchis, another anti-mutant organization.[6]

Notes

  • This group should definitely not be confused with Clan Akkaba.
    • Coven Akkaba is composed of magical humans. They once served Apocalypse but he rejected them because he still saw them as inferior to mutants.[1] They are anti-mutant. They kept the Akkaba name to reclaim it from Apocalypse, as Akkaba (the place where Apocalypse was born) was originally inhabited by humans, who tried to kill Apocalypse as a baby for being a mutant.[3][7]
    • Clan Akkaba is a mutant organization loyal to Apocalypse. Most of its members descend from him. Apocalypse had disbanded them in the past though they reformed behind his back,[8][9] After re-emerging,[10] under Archangel,[11] and later the Apocalypse Twins[12] and Genocide,[13] they campaigned against humanity to further evolution and ensure the survival of the fitter species (i.e. mutants).
