Synopsis for "The Skull of Silence!"

Kull is warned not to open the doors to the castle, as doing so will unleash an ancient evil. Kull ignores the warnings, breaks the lock, and opens the door. He is almost overwhelmed by, and barely defeats, the mystic entity known as Silence. After trapping the entity back in the castle, and re-locking the doors, he declares that no one should ever open those doors.

Synopsis for "Trull! The Unhuman!"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Tales to Astonish #21
(originally printed as Trull! The Inhuman!)

The mental essence of an alien bent on global conquest takes over a steam shovel and is defeated by an elephant. The story differs from others like it because the hero does not gladly win the affection of the previously shrew-acting female, but instead gives her the cold shoulder. Someone must have told Stan "It's about time."

Solicit Synopsis

(February) (Mislabeled as CHAMBER OF DARKNESS #4:) From the pen of Robert E. Howard, creator of Conan, comes this tale of the barbarous King Kull — and the Skull of Silence! Plus the greatest monster epic of all!

  • (March) (Mislabeled as TOWER OF SHADOWS #10:) If you dig Conan the Barbarian — you're gonna love King Kull! Robert E. Howard's first and fiercest swashbuckler! Plus a mad monster Shockeroo!

Notes

  • The Skull of Silence! is adapted from Robert E. Howard's short story.
  • Wrightson is credited as Berni Wrightson.
  • Ka-Nu's appearance in his first appearance matches closer Brule's. Although both Ka-Nu and Brule appear in the original story,[3] Brule's name is not mentioned in the adaptation, while in The Kull Comics Chronology in Conan Saga #97, Brule is listed, but not Ka-Nu.[2] Given the original story, and given the sources don't contradict each other, it can be considered both were present.
