Danny was in Oakland when he was arrested and locked up in the county jail. Not long after he was approached by two men who came to take him away to some place with people who possessed potential like himself.[1]

Unknowingly, he became was one of the individuals experimented on by Weapon X Program Director Abraham Cornelius in order to make a better soldier than his previous creations like Wolverine.

Junk shooting acid at a Weapon X soldier

But after being saved by Logan before his death, Danny joined Sharp along with the other test subjects as they fought their way through the compound. Upon reaching the roof, they encountered the villain Slayback but for some reason Sharp had the knowledge of who he was, which resulted in Slayback's death. Danny left on a helicopter with Sharp and the others.[1]

Daniel's genes have been modified to possess animal-like traits due to the activation of his "junk DNA"[2] granting him the following powers:

  • Acid Generation: Daniel is able to project a green corrosive acid from his mouth which can burn through solid steel or melt the flesh off of anyone it hits.[1]
  • Superhuman Senses: Daniel's senses of sight smell and hearing are superhumanly acute and comparable to those possessed by certain animals. He can see things at much greater distances, and with perfect clarity, than an ordinary human. His sense of hearing is similarly enhanced, allowing him to hear sounds that ordinary human's can't detect and sounds that they normally could hear but at much greater distances. He can also use his highly developed sense of smell to track or recognize someone by their scent.[3]
  • Camouflage: He also possesses the superhuman ability to alter his skin color and appearance enabling him to copy the pattern of any surface he stands against, hypothesized to be originated from chameleon's DNA.[4]
  • Electrokinesis: Daniel recently possesses the ability to discharge huge amounts of electricity in an omni-directional range. This ability originated from electric eel DNA.[5]
