Synopsis for 1st story
Matt Murdock is at Coney Island on a long-awaited date with his colleague, Assistant D.A. Kirsten McDuffie. Kirsten hands Matt a scarf and tells him to blindfold her so that she can experience the world like he does. Matt is smitten. He leads Kirsten around the fairgrounds and bats away her playful attempts to expose him as Daredevil, as he’s been doing for the last few weeks. Helping him relax in the face of the threat of Megacrime is the knowledge that Spider-Man is keeping an eye on them from a distance at Matt’s request - though the figure Matt senses perched on a nearby rooftop is dressed in the uniform of the Black Spectre rather than Spidey’s red and blue.
As they walk and get to know each other, Kirsten asks Matt if Foggy Nelson is his best friend. Matt says yes, and then recounts the early days of their relationship when they were roommates at Columbia Law School. Foggy was facing expulsion after being accused of plagiarism by a hard-nosed professor of theirs who felt Foggy was lazy and undeserving of his spot in the school. Matt - who knew, thanks to his enhanced senses, that Foggy was innocent and the professor was lying - took it upon himself to defend his friend in front of their class. While Matt’s initial plan to catch the professor in a lie was unsuccessful, Foggy noticed a hole in his story that forced the professor to retract his accusation. Foggy was able to stay enrolled, used his resources to help Matt pay his tuition, and the two have been best friends ever since.
At the end of the night, Kirsten says she has no idea how Matt fights crime as a blind man, but that she also doesn’t really care. They kiss, but Kirsten sees something behind Matt that frightens her. The Black Spectre agent appears in a cloud of green smoke and tells Matt that his group is coming for him, his friends, and the Omegadrive. The agent vanishes as his laughter rings out.
