Synopsis for 1st story

His senses obliterated by experimental nanodroids, Matt Murdock battles the rising fear that he’s facing imminent death and can do nothing about it. But a brief flash of red ignites hope that all may not yet be lost. For the moment, though, Matt sits comatose in a Latverian lab as Chancellor Exchequer Beltane orders Dr. Hantmarr to do whatever is necessary - at the behest of Dr. Doom - to study Matt’s brain and understand his radar sense.

Later, a nurse approaches Matt’s hospital bed singing and carrying a basin of hot water. In a flash, Matt senses the heat of the water and lunges at the nurse. He upturns the basin, burning his chest, and desperately asks why he can’t feel anything. Guards rush the room and shoot Matt with tranquilizers, then give the nurse some extra tranq darts for her safety. As Matt fades into unconsciousness, he gets a fleeting image of the woman and of the portrait of Doom hanging on the wall behind her. It confirms his worst fear - he’s still in Latveria.

As the days pass, Matt continues to experience bursts of sensation - a Q-Tip in his ear, the sound and smell of water being poured from a pitcher. Beltane and Hantmarr decide that the best way to get a complete grasp on Matt’s radar sense is to operate on his brain. They tell the nurse to prepare Matt for surgery. But as Matt lies in his bed, he gets an impression of the distraught nurse and realizes that his irradiated brain is trying to compensate for his lack of senses, just like it did when he was blinded as a child. The nurse’s mood tells Matt something bad is about to happen to him, so he acts quickly. He grabs the tranquilizer darts out of the nurse’s apron and injects her with one, then locates his costume and escapes out the window. He hangs from the ledge outside as two guards enter the room and raise the alarm.

The rain beats down as Daredevil slowly climbs up the outside of Castle Doom. He fights to focus his faint senses to find the highest point on the castle - one of the flags waving Doom’s standard from a nearby rooftop. When Beltane’s men report that they can’t find Daredevil anywhere on the grounds, the Chancellor realizes where Matt is going. Beltane orders his men to open fire as Daredevil clambers up the steep roof and shimmies up the flagpole. Despite being under heavy fire, Daredevil manages to rip the truck of the flagpole off. Wires contained inside the flagpole short-circuit just before Beltane himself lands a shot that knocks Daredevil off the roof.

Beltane’s men search Daredevil and find his Avengers I.D. card, which is finally broadcasting a distress signal now that Daredevil has destroyed the communications damper in the flagpole. Beltane crushes the I.D. card in his fist and levels his pistol at Daredevil’s heart. He tells his men only Matt’s brain needs to be undamaged.

Just as Beltane pulls the trigger, Iron Man lands in front of Daredevil and deflects the bullets. He repulsor blasts Beltane into a wall and picks up Matt’s unconscious body. Iron Man calls the Avengers for transport and demands to know what was done to Matt. Beltane smugly tells him about the nanobots, then Iron Man flies off with Daredevil into the approaching Quinjet. He tells Captain Marvel that Daredevil is alive, but there’s only one person who can help him now.
