Synopsis for 1st story

The ones behind the recent turmoil in Matt Murdock’s life - namely his conflicts with Klaw, Coyote, and the men termed the Wilders, who were experimented on, blinded, and given Daredevil’s powers - reflects on their accomplishments. The mastermind, who speaks with an electronic voice from within a metal coffin with only a window for his eyes, wonders aloud why Daredevil hasn’t followed up on the Wilders after two weeks. He demands darkness and his associate closes the coffin’s window.

Meanwhile, Matt sits by Foggy’s hospital bed at the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, pushing through the overwhelming sounds and smells of the hospital. He pauses his reading on cancer to subtly trip a junky running down the hall after raiding the pharmacy. This wakes Foggy, who tells his restless friend to take a break from his bedside and talk to Kirsten McDuffie about their relationship.

Matt finds Kirsten at a rockwall gym with the intent of breaking up with her. However, Kirsten tells Matt that not only is she at the gym on a date, but she’s beating him to the punch and breaking up with him. Matt says he understands, and that it would be difficult for her to date someone with so many enemies. Kirsten surprises him by saying she’s not afraid of becoming a target, but of only being known as Daredevil’s girlfriend. She says she needs to be the star of her own life and casually walks away. Matt finds himself more smitten with her than ever.

Later, as he swings from rooftops, Daredevil calls Hank Pym for his findings on the chemicals used on the Wilders. Hank confirms it’s the same cocktail that gave Matt his powers, but says that he’s still working to identify any rare ingredients that can be traced back to the buyer. Hank asks about Foggy’s condition, and suggests Matt ask the doctors to look into a particular type of cancer based on the symptoms Matt has described. Hank’s theory proves correct - Foggy has Ewing’s sarcoma, which has a 70% survival rate in the best case scenario, which drops to 10% if the cancer has metastasized.

Soon after Matt stops by Nelson & Murdock to check in on their caseload, the office receives delivery of a crate. Matt catches a familiar chemical smell in the air and shouts for his employees not to open the box. The room suddenly explodes in shards of wood and a pack of blind, chemically enhanced dogs begin tearing through the office. Matt deduces these are the result of the animal trials that occurred before the Wilders were released into the city. He fends off the dogs long enough for his staff to escape, then grabs a pair of headphones and pulls the fire alarm. The blaring noise disorients the dogs, and Matt incapacitates them with a nerve pinch taught to him by Iron Fist. He then calls Hank Pym, who comes to Nelson & Murdock, shrinks the animals down, and takes them back to his lab for study.

Matt goes to Foggy’s hospital room and tries to figure out who could be targeting him so relentlessly. As he’s lost in thought, a man wearing an orange jumpsuit appears in the doorway and says he can take Matt to the people who are after him.
