Synopsis for 1st story
In the last record of the Inventor from the villain's perspective, Ms. Marvel escaped mutual destruction with aid by JCPD, and the Inventor met his demise.[1] Today, in a Jersey City landfill, Demons possess the equipment and are ready to eat the workers present, but the revived Inventor stops them with the promise of a better meal. Two Hours Earlier, at the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City, an irate Nakia asks why they have Christmas lights, to which Sheikh Abdullah answers that the lights are up to show support to their Christian neighbors. Nakia instead speculates that someone was too lazy after to remove them, and Aamir offers to remove the lights should they find the still missing ladder. Kamala suggests a joint holiday celebration with the Church up the street, but pivots away from volunteering with responsibility by mentioning her busy internship. Intrigued, Nakia asks Kamala about her internship, and the reticent Kamala discloses it is at Oscorp. On the ferry, Nakia "reminds" Kamala about Oscorp's animal testing. Still, Kamala disproves that as she's been in the labs, and Nakia brings up how Norman Osborn is a super villain as Kamala immediately rebuttals that he is reformed. While Nakia believes people deserve redemption, she feels if Osborn wanted redemption, he would have surrendered his illegal gains to climb back from the bottom instead of being comfortable in a penthouse, mentioning Bruno's past refusal of an Oscorp internship.
Having not heard of this, Kamala called him for elaboration, and he explained that it was two years earlier, which Kamala used to prove her point. But Bruno asks why Kamala took the internship as she never expressed interest in being a scientist. After bringing up her past short-term stints, Kamala admits that gaming and writing fanfic isn't a career, and while maybe Oscorp could be a mistake, it is hers to make. Later at Oscorp, her coworker Arjun fails to attempt to flirt and make small talk with her as they work. As Kamala examines a subject sample, Arjun mentions having Badshah tickets and asking if she'd like to go with him. While loving the artist, Kamala wants to clarify if they're going as fans or on a date, as she's still trying to figure herself out and is postponing dating. While Arjun respects that, he immediately asks if there might be a problem with him being Hindu and if he could have gotten a date were he a Muslim. While Kamala pauses, the equipment is demonically possessed, and Arjun is knocked out in the immediate chaos, allowing Kamala to use her powers to retaliate. Switching to her Ms. Marvel attire, she destroys the demon tech hounding her, mistakenly hoping that the chaos was confined to the lab. Back in Jersey City, the Masjid is possessed and becomes a walking demonic entity housing the occupants trapped within it.
After Arjun regained consciousness, he was pursued by talking toilets before Ms. Marvel rescues him. He asks about Kamala, and claims that she rejected him because he was Hindu, while Ms. Marvel voices how that doesn't sound like Kamala. As more demon toilets attack, Ms. Marvel guesses Kamala's feelings relating to her past dating experience with a Muslim guy that went wrong and a White guy that was a sweetheart. As it is the person and not the label, Kamala likely rejected Arjun because she wasn't seeking a date and that was her business. Arjun simplifies her speech to his being a bad person and follows her to the front door, where Chasm was stationed about to commence his plan. While Ms. Marvel is distracted by Chasm, Inventor steadies his impatient posse as they will strike once Ms. Marvel is alone and separated. Outside, Ms. Marvel demands to know if he attacked her boss, then immediately corrects herself that Norman is her "friend's" boss to save her secret identity. But as Chasm inquires if her "friend" knows Peter Parker, she's perplexed long enough for Chasm to conjure a barrier to impede her as he continues the ritual. Wondering if he did it right, he finds it did as a portal opens up,[2] sending Ms. Marvel to Limbo.
