David Cannon, A.K.A. Whirlwind, is a supervillain with the power to create tornadoes. At some point in the past, he was indirectly responsible for Giant Man having to quit the Avengers. During a battle with the Avengers, Whirlwind destroyed the foundations of a series of gas tanks and one of them threatened to collide with a building. To stop the tank, Dr. Pym had to grow much larger than he ever did before. He saved the building, but due to growing beyond his limits his cells were damaged, and he could never grow giant again without feeling immense pain. Thus, he had to leave the team.[1]

Whirlwind was one of the various supervillains locked up in the maximum security prison The Raft. When Loki attacked the Raft to get his hands on the DISK technology, he freed several of the imprisoned villains, including Whirlwind. Along with the other villains, Whirlwind proceeded to wreck havoc and fight the Avengers. After Loki had succesfully trapped the Avengers in DISKs, he recalled his army to their DISKs, including Whirlwind.[2]

Whirlwind was next seen on board a ship owned by the Celebrity Five. When Jessica, Ed and Spider-Man, who had all been captured by the Celebrity Five, managed to escape, Whirlwind was released from his DISK to fight them, along with Abomination, M.O.D.O.K. and Diablo. Jessica managed to contact Akira, Hikaru, Chris, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, who immediately came to the ship in the Stark Industries Jet to rescue them. To prevent the group from landing, Whirlwind created a huge tornado around the entire ship. Iron Man was able to breach the Tornado however, and delivered Hulk's DISK to Edward. When Hulk was D-smashed onto the ship, he took out both Diablo and Whirlwind. Whirlwind was then D-Secured by Jessica.[3]

After Loki is defeated and sucked into a dimensional tear, the DISKs are spread across the world again. Whirlwind's DISK ended up in the hands of Red Skull. Whirlwind was next seen using his powers to create a defensive tornado around the island, where Baron Zemo had set up one of the five bases for the Gaia Anchors as part or Red Skull's plan to destroy the world. Whirlwind did not participate in any of the fights however when Chris and Captain America came to the island to destroy the anchor, and was last seen still creating the tornado when Baron Zemo activated the Islands' self destruction. It's unknown what became of Whirlwind.[4]

Seemingly those of David Cannon of Earth-616.
