As an operative of the criminal/political cabal known as the Fold, Daze hypnotized several sleeper agents to be ready for activation at command. Sent by the Fold to assassinate Senator Gaines, Daze used his power to get past the guards and was on the verge of commanding the senator to leap to his death when the cybernetic mercenary Warrant, hired to protect Gaines, arrived and prevented him from jumping. Daze's mesmerized guards gave Warrant a brief fight, then Daze himself attempted to mesmerize the mercenary, but Warrant's goggles screened out the effect, and he stunned the assassin. Warrant's partner Reynard administered sodium pentothal to Daze to learn who sent him, but after mentioning the Fold and its sleeper agents, he went into convulsions as he fought the drug's effect. Daze was presumably jailed shortly thereafter.[1]

Daze can mesmerize anyone into obeying his commands; he is known to have hypnotized several "sleeper agents" who can be triggered into activity, indicating that his power has long-term uses. Daze can also use his power on himself to keep from revealing information under the influence of sodium pentothal. His hypnotic gaze operates on a frequency which can be filtered out by infrared goggles such as those worn by Warrant.
