Synopsis for "Morning After"

Lord Deathstrike admonishes his little sister, Lady Deathstrike for her failure in assassinating Doctor Octopus, as she furiously accuses him of sabotaging her efforts to audition for the Atelier by pairing her with Deadpool, known nuisance and buffoon. Her rage cools, however, as her big brother reveals he managed to convince the Atelier to allow her a second chance at joining... albeit with a new, much more difficult assignment: assassinating Deadpool as well as Octavius. This sits fine with Deathstrike, who intended to kill Deadpool anyway.

Meanwhile, Deadpool awakens from sleep in Valentine Vuong's New York apartment as they present him with a breakfast of bacon and eggs (styled after his mask via sauce, of course). Wade delights in the meal, but also questions how long it'll be until the Atelier come for him; Valentine assures him that no Atelier agents should be arriving any time soon. When Wade questions why they'd help him (or want to have breakfast with him), he's shocked to find the answer is that Valentine thinks he's cute. Wade is flabbergasted by this, protesting on grounds of his skin deformities among other things, but Valentine mentions they were rather more preoccupied by his rapid liver growth. Wade, confused, looks down and is promptly reminded, via the numerous tiny hands and mouths attempting to punch through his skin, of the symbiote parasitically gestating in his body.

Wade's fears of the symbiote bursting from his body are assuaged by Valentine, who reveals their mutant ability is chemical synthesis: through a lot of trial and error, they managed to create an anaesthetic that could keep the symbiote placid (without also causing Wade's organs to shut down). However, the symbiote cannot be sedated permanently, not without endangering Wade, so Valentine proposes a "field test".

Meanwhile, across town, Harrower and Octavius discuss the menu at a restaurant; several customers in the booth next to them take offense to being jostled by Octavius's tentacles, prompting Otto to drive the man's face through a table. The man's friend tries to attack him but is stopped by Harrower, who mutates the hapless customer into a plant-hybrid abomination, which goes on to attack the other customers, while Harrower notes she remembered why she chose this restaurant: bottomless mimosas. Otto questions how Harrower plans to find Deadpool and the runaway symbiote; Harrower explains that, in tweaking the symbiote's genetic structure, enhancing it, she also programmed it with a homing instinct. The symbiote will not only want, but NEED to return to her, a need that will become more desperate as the creature grows. Eventually it WILL return, dragging Deadpool with it... if it doesn't devour him from the inside first.

At the Metropolitan Zoo, Wade and Valentine discuss what animal exhibits they should visit, and Valentine notes this zoo, crowded as it is, is a perfect place to test the symbiote's responses to external stimuli. They also note an ulterior motive, in that they also wanted to go on a "cute zoo date" with Wade, the use of the word "cute" once again sending Wade into a spiral of flustered embarrassment. As Valentine reminds him of his backpack being full of symbiote sedative, the couple embark on their date at the zoo, happily viewing the animals, partaking in attractions, and having to fight to stop the Carnage symbiote from devouring a flamingo. All the while, Wade falls deeper in love. Across the zoo, however, Octavius and Harrower have arrived; the latter begins mutating the animals into horrifying abominations, not least including the inhabitants of the insect house, whom Deathstrike encounters as she tracks Deadpool.

As Valentine discusses the data they've gathered thus far, the viability of safely removing the symbiote, and the benefits of having one's own symbiote should Wade decide to keep it, the symbiote demands from Wade: "KISS." Wade protests, disgusted, only for the symbiote to clarify that it doesn't mean for Wade to kiss IT, but to kiss Valentine. Wade goes for it, to the symbiote's delight... only to be interrupted by the entry of the giraffes, having been fused into a single, hydra-esque monstrosity, to the symbiote's anger. Drawing his swords, and with the symbiote morphing its hands into a matching pair, Wade begins to dispatch the mutant giraffe, calling out to Harrower to show herself, since the mutated animals are a dead giveaway of her presence. Harrower does indeed show her face, with Octavius, a menagerie of mutant zoo animals, and a titanic, winged, mutant Venus flytrap in tow.
