History
Declan Fay was an employee of Mister Sinister who worked at his boss' DNA database in the Kerguelen Islands. He betrayed Mister Sinister and ran away from his base with a stolen genetic sample of Dani Cage.[1] Fay offered the sample as an item for sale at a black market auction aboard a submarine miles off the coast of Guam, but kept under the wraps the identity of the person the genetic sample belonged to.
Declan's actions coincided with the disappearance of Wolverine's body from its grave. When Tony Stark started investigating the disappearance, a contact of his warned him about the upcoming auction, and he decided to look further into it in case the person the genetic code belonged to was Wolverine. Stark infiltrated the auction with Spider-Man and, coincidentally, Dani's parents, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.[2] Since nobody present at the auction was interested in the genetic code of a baby despite the fact her parents had powers, Tony bought it for only thirty thousand dollars to keep it out of Fay's hands.
Mister Sinister eventually caught notice of his former employee's actions, and attacked him at the submarine. He was saved by Logan's successor, Laura Kinney, who had also infiltrated the auction, albeit independently from the other heroes.[3] The heroes confronted Mister Sinister, and forced him to retreat. Declan was apprehended after Iron Man contacted the National Intelligence Service. The heroes interrogated him, and learned the location of Mister Sinister's base.[1]
