History
The Defenders were assigned to New Jersey as part of the 50-State Initiative, because the proximity to New York City demanded more experienced warriors than can just be recruited from the ranks of Camp Hammond.[1]
The team was disbanded for incompetence[3] but Richmond eventually found a team outside the Initiative with the Son of Satan, She-Hulk, Krang, and Nighthawk (S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Joaquin Pennyworth).[2]
