History
Dobanpu was the chieftain of the Ichiribu. He thought Conan and Valeria were false spirits, but, upon insistence by his daughter, Emwaya, and the war chief Seyganko, he agreed to test Conan to win three of the four trials to prove they weren't actually spirits.[1]
When his daughter was hit by a poisoned shaft, at first he cast some spells against Wobeku, and then took Emwaya under his care.[2]
Although still weak for having cured his daughter with his magical powers, Dobanpu decided to follow Emwaya and join her in fighting the last golden serpent in the catacombs beneath the Lake of Death, leading it away from the Ichiribu warriors.[3]
The witch-man attracted the giant reptile into a moss cave, which Conan managed to set on fire and kill the creature. When Ryku summoned the Living Wind, Dobanpu cast his ultimate spell to contain and dissipate the giant cyclone.[4]
