The background of this Dr. Frankenstein, and his relation to the infamous family are unknown. He took up residence in Castle Frankenstein with his daughter Anna following the death of Basil Frankenstein. He lived there in unaware that his daughter -- like Basil before her -- had become loyal to the Nazis and sought to use the family secrets to create a new monster for the Nazis, having a secret romance with blind Nazi agent Von Rottz.

After successfully creating the new monster without her father's knowledge, Anna sent a letter to Captain America and Bucky asking for their "assistance" so that she could set her creation against them. When Captain America was forced to break into the castle, he briefly struggled with the Frankenstein butler before being held at gun point by Doctor Frankenstein. Realizing that the intruder was the legendary Captain America, Frankenstein put down his weapon and invited Cap and Bucky to stay the night. When Anna warned them of strange things happening in the castle, her father dismissed them as nothing more than female hysteria.

That night however, Captain America and Bucky were attacked by the monster but forced it to flee. Cap gathered the Doctor, Anna, and his staff and went to search for the monster with the aid of Von Rottz. The creature attacked the heroes again and strangled Von Rottz to death. He then grabbed Anna and fled into the countryside. Captain America followed after the creature and freed Anna then tricked the monster into walking over a quicksand pit. Cap then confronted Anna with the truth, and in shame, she committed suicide by jumping into the quicksand as well.

Unable to tell the doctor that his daughter was a traitor, Cap informed the Doctor that his daughter was killed by the monster before he could rescue her. Blaming Anna's death on the family curse, the Doctor then set the castle's laboratory on fire.[1]

His subsequent fate is unknown. The destruction of the lab did not destroy all of Victor Frankenstein's work as other members of his family have since been able to carry on their work.
