Synopsis for "The Vampire Strikes Back!"

Doctor Strange visits Morgana Blessing to confront her about a new book she has written that reveals many of his secrets. Morgana faints upon seeing someone whom she believed was dead but soon regains consciousness, and she and Doc have a conversation that ends badly. After returning to his Sanctum Sanctorum, Strange plays the messages left on his answering-machine and one of them causes him to immediately leave in search of the caller, Vic. Arriving at the correct location, Strange intervenes in an altercation between Morbius and Vic, and he and Morbius fight until the latter overcomes his blood lust and explains the situation. Doc brings them both back to his home and reveals that Vic is a vampire and also his brother who has been cryogenically frozen since he died ten years previously.

Synopsis for "The Book of the Vishanti: The Curse of the Darkhold Part II - The Voodoo Queen of New Orleans"

Doctor Strange reads a chapter from the Book of the Vishanti that reveals the history of Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans.

Notes

  • According to a listing of the source-notes for this issue's Book of the Vishanti feature that wasn't presented until the letters page of Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #15, most of "The Voodoo Queen of New Orleans" was a recapping of stories that had been published in Dracula Lives! #2, Marvel Team-Up #76-77, and Marvel Fanfare #42. However, it doesn't mention that Silver Dagger's origin is recapped from Doctor Strange (Vol. 2) #5.
  • The story of Marie's meeting with the wizard Cagliostro was new material that was intermingled with her origin from Dracula Lives! #2. That makes their appearances in that story flashbacks.
