Synopsis for "The Chosen One"
Doctor Strange uses his Cloak of Levitation to fly to Sunblest Golf Course and Country Club in Long Island to play golf with Emil Blessing. He does so under the guise of spending time with Morgana Blessing’s father but his true mission is to look for the High Lama of an order of priests from Kamar-Taj who haven’t been able to yet identify him after more than a year.
During the golf game, Doctor Strange encounters a young man named Arnie Green whose aura he detects might suggest that he is the High Lama in question. Doctor Strange comes with the young man to his apartment at the country club where he questions him and realizes he appears to be fairly normal but demonstrates an innate understanding of magic.
The three priests soon arrive and are surprised by the identity of the suspected Lama and begin to question him but soon discover they are under attack by an apparent assassin with a bow and arrow. Doctor Strange and encounters the suspected assassin, but he reveals that he is not trying to kill Arnie, but one who would instead try to kill Arnie. Doctor Strange returns to the apartment where it is revealed that one of the priests seeks to kill Arnie due to his belief that the reincarnation of the Lama in Arnie was a mistake and killing him would put him in a more appropriate body. He fails when Arnie’s latent powers come alive and the priest jumps from the window where he breaks his ankle. The archer approaches the priest, who is revealed to be his uncle, and tells him that he has shamed the family.
Arnie tells the young man to put down his bow and scolds the priest for his impetuosity having now recalled his past history. He explains that being reborn in a westerner was not a mistake but meant to further enlighten himself and experience western civilization. The priest begs his forgiveness and he gives it. They then are seen leaving New York as a group the next day.
