Quote1.png Yeah, but I mean, you've got a pretty great batting average against this guy. You've beaten Mordo every time you've ever fought him, right? Quote2.png

Synopsis for "Blood in the Aether: Chapter One"

The story begins with the monseterous creature Mister Misery attacking doctors in a hospital, when Doctor Strange suddenly appears to confront the villain. Mister Misery tells Strange that it wants to make Strange watch people from his life suffer in recompense for the anguish and suffering that Strange used to create Mister Misery in his cellar. The disfigured creature and Doctor Strange duel, but then Mister Misery escapes so that he can cause more suffering to those who know Strange and have Strange know that it was his own fault.

Strange hails a taxi and goes to the Bar With No Doors, where he finds out from the bartender Chondu that Baron Mordo has resurfaced again and left a message for Strange that Mordo is out to hunt him. Chondu and Strange comment how odd it is that Mordo still has magic powers apparently, despite the Empirikul wiping out all magic recently.[1] Meanwhile, Mordo trespasses into a highrise apartment in New York, where he uses one of the residents to communicate with his master, Dormammu, that he is on the trail of Strange.

The next day, Mordo appears at the Sanctum Sanctorum to attack Strange, and they have a confrontation directly in front of the house while Strange's assistants Zelma and Wong watch. Before Mordo is able to kill Strange, however, the Doctor surprisingly melts through the ground by the power of his nemesis Nightmare, who kidnapped Strange in order to be the one to kill the weakened sorcerer.
