History
Drorin Runehewer was the brother of King Eitri of the Dwarves of Nidavellir. Growing disenchanted with the creation and sale of divine weapons like Gungnir and Mjolnir for feuding warlords, Drorin petitioned for the Godmaker -- Eitri's personal forge -- and other forges to be shut down and the weapons reforged into tools for more peaceful purposes than war. Eitri refused and had Drorin imprisoned,[1] and is implied to have disowned him as he was not listed among Eitri's relatives in the dwarf-king's eulogy.[2] During his imprisonment, Drorin built a teleportation unit that would enable him to escape to anywhere in the Ten Realms, but ultimately decided against using it on the off chance an opportunity to destroy the Godmaker would present itself. Hela infrequently sent envoys to free Drorin in exchange for his services in the creation of more weapons, but he refused; the near-genocide of his fellow dwarves at the hands of God of Hammers -- the manifestation of Mjolnir -- only hardening his resolve.
When Carnage arrived in Nidavellir and massacred his guards, offering his freedom in exchange for his services, Drorin refused until Carnage stated its desire was to kill all the gods before destroying everything. Drorin begrudgingly acquiesced, repairing the Godmaker with the help of human serial killer Kenneth Neely. Noting Kenneth's subdued resentment towards Carnage, Drorin proposed tricking the symbiote and using the Godmaker's world-shattering power to destroy it when it melded with the weapon. Asked why Drorin would risk his life to do so, the dwarf said that he would not let his legacy be the creation of another world-destroying weapon.
Once the preparations were made, Drorin approached Carnage and asked what sort of weapon it wanted. Presented with Malekith's codex from when he had bonded to the Venom symbiote, Drorin was ordered to use it as a template to forge a modified replica of All-Black the Necrosword.[1] Signalling Neely, Drorin attempted to immolate Carnage with the cosmic flames from the stars used to smelt uru, but Jon Shayde -- a police officer with a grudge against Neely -- unwittingly allowed Carnage to break free. Assimilating the uru left in the corpses of the dead dwarves and undergoing apotheosis, Carnage impaled Drorin with his new Necrosword, All-Blood, and revealed to the dwarf that Hela planned to force him to forge weapons for her.[3]
