History

Druig was an Eternal created by the Celestials in the World Forge. Over the course of his existence he aided the birth of many Celestials by protecting the native populations of their planets from Deviants until the Celestial could hatch from the planet. Like most other Eternals, he had his memories reset and stored in between the missions, believing himself to be from the planet called Olympia.

7,000 years ago Druig was one of the ten Eternals assigned by Arishem to Earth, alongside Ajak, Ikaris, Sprite, Kingo, Makkari, Phastos , Gilgamesh, Thena and Sersi. The Eternals initially setlled in the ancient Babylon, advancing human development and protecting them from Deviants. After six and a half thousand years, the last Deviants on Earth were believed to be destroyed and Ajak told the others that their mission was over and to go their own ways and live lives among the Humans. Druig, he believed he could control the minds of Humans to stop them from causing bloodshed to themselves, took this as an opportunity and left, taking a group of Humans with him. By the 21st century he was running a commune deep within the Amazon Forest.

In 2023 the Blip suddenly restored half of the humanity snapped by Thanos back to life, accelerating the awakening of the Celestial Tiamut. The Deviants have suddenly reappeared, with a few survivors being thawed off from the ice. Ajak was killed by one of them, making Sersi the new Prime Eternal. She talked to Arishem, who revealed to her the true origin of the Eternals and the Deviants and that their true role was preparing the worlds to be destroyed in the Emergence of new Celestials, which would soon be the case with Tiamut on Earth. Deciding to try and postpone the end of the world, the Eternals went to see Druig, planning to use his ability to put Tiamut to sleep until they could find a way to awaken him without destroying the Earth in process. Druig initially refused to help, but changed his mind after a Deviant attack had killed Glgamesh.

The Eternals returned to the Domo and Druig reunited with Makkari, while Phastos conceived an idea to increase Druig's power by havig the Eternals form the Uni-Mind. However, Ikaris was revealed as the one behind Ajak's death, being loyal to Arishem and their cause of awakening Tiamut. Sprite chose to follow him, while Kingo believed in the same cause but refused to fight the others and left. The remaining five Eternals planned to form the Uni-Mind themselves, but this attempt was violently stopped by Ikaris, who punched Druig into a mountain and proclaimed him dead. This negated the original option and left Sersi as the one capable to deal with Tiamut. Druig however was not dead and arrived just in time to help Sersi when she was stabbed by Sprite. Eventually, the Eternals formed the Uni-Mind which empowered Sersi and enabled her to to turn Tiamut to stone before he could fully awake. Ikaris then departed, while Sersi turned Sprite into a Human with what was left of the Uni-Mind's power. Afterwards, Sersi, Phastos and Kingo planned to resume their lives among the Humans while Druig, Makkari and Thena departed the planet aboard the Domo to look for other Eternals. However, they soon lost contact with their family on Earth and realized that Arishem got to them. While debating on what to do next, they were surprised to see a fellow Eternal Eros teleport aboard their ship.[1]
