History
This being was summoned with Dire Wraith magic during the time when Earth and Wraithworld were in perfect alignment. Born of the energies granted by the Black Sun of the Dark Nebula, the Dweller's intrusion into our world was thwarted by Rom, the Spaceknight.[2]
They battled in a dimension between the two worlds; the Dweller using it's dark powers to tempt Rom with the promise of eternal happiness, if he'd only sacrifice himself. The spell was broken thanks to Doctor Strange, and Rom was then able to banish the Dweller to Limbo with his neutralizer.[1]Notes
- The Dweller on the Threshold, appearing in Rom #40-#41 (March and April, 1983) is possibly inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos:
- His name might be a reference to stories titles such as August Derleth's "The Dweller in Darkness" (1944) and "The Lurker at the Threshold" (1945).
- "The Dweller on the Threshold" is also a name of an avatar of Yog-Sothoth.[3]
