On this Earth, many Marvel heroes such as Spider-Man began their career at the time they were first published in comics, and are unaffected by the Sliding Timescale. Additionally, one of the major divergent events in this world is Tony Stark's decision to be more involved with the Vietnam War as Iron Man,[1] which escalated tensions between the US and the Soviet Union and led not only to an extended Vietnam War, but a war in 1984 where nuclear missiles destroyed Allentown, Pennsylvania while many US superheroes disappeared to Battleworld.[2] This War was won by the US at some undetermined time before 1995.[3]

  • On Twitter, Chip Zdarsky said that Life Story takes place on Earth-2447.[4]
  • On Earth-616, prior to the Sliding Timescale, Tony Stark had another traumatic experience in Vietnam as Iron Man[5] that led to his decision to stop making weapons for the government. On Earth-2447, Tony Stark not only continued to help the war effort as Iron Man, he involved other superheroes[6] and continued to make weapons for the government, for decades.[3]
  • In the real world, the Vietnam War ended in April 30, 1975.[7] By 1977 on Earth-2447, the Vietnam War not only was still going on[6], but North Vietnamese troops were only just starting to make inroads into Phước Long (in real life, they had already taken Phước Long in 1975[8]) and Iron Man decided to recruit Giant-Man in response.
