History
Wanting to erase the sin he committed by letting two security guards die years ago, the Illuminated (Eddie Brock) sent his consciousness back in time into Spider-Man's Black Suit so he could pilot the hero's unconscious body to save the guards. Instead of doing that, however, the Illuminated decided to reveal the Sin-Eater's true identity to his past self in order to set him up for success, accidentally enabling Jack O'Lantern to kill both Spider-Man and the Black Suit. Thanks to the reports he wrote about Spider-Man's death and the Sin-Eater's identity, the younger Eddie Brock eventually got the high life he always dreamed of, but many people ended up being hurt by criminals such as Cletus Kasady without a Spider-Man and a Venom to protect them.[1]
