History

Kronos, the first Titan, in his restless quest for power and wisdom led to the creation of Olympus, a harmonious city for the gods. However, his ambition to manipulate nature's laws resulted in a catastrophic event that destroyed Olympus. His son A'Lars gathered the surviving Titans and founded a new society on Titan, Saturn's moon, striving to restore peace and wisdom. Yet, from this lineage arose Thanos, the Mad Titan, whose insatiable hunger for power and death set the universe on a path of devastation.

Thanos, wielding the Infinity Gauntlet with all six Gems, annihilated Thor and confronted the universe's defenders. Despite their valiant efforts, Thanos' overwhelming power crushed their resistance with ease; he banished allies, manipulated minds, and eradicated foes, all while yearning for the approval of Mistress Death, who remained silent. The battle escalated aboard Thanos' warship Sanctuary, where a separate strike team fought but fell victim to Thanos' might. The arrival of Drax the Destroyer signaled a new confrontation.

Meanwhile, on Earth's orbital command station the Peak, Tony Stark, Maria Hill, Nick Fury, and Reed Richards coordinated defenses against Thanos. They witnessed the cosmic battle unfold and attempted to free Kronos, the Titan imprisoned by Thanos. Wanda Maximoff channeled chaos magic to break Kronos' chains, but Reed was fatally wounded by Sanctuary bombardment. Tony donned his armor and joined the fray.

Drax, fighting Thanos, was swiftly erased from history. Thanos reveled in his dominion, yet his grandfather Kronos challenged him, condemning his genocidal path. Their titanic duel wiped out the entire Sol system and shook the universe, culminating in the defeat of Thanos when Kronos, using the essences of multiple species, manipulated the Infinity Gauntlet itself, causing the superweapon to overheat and stripping Thanos of his power.

Defeated and diminished, Thanos was left to contemplate his failures and the silence of Mistress Death. Kronos used the Gems to heal the universe, restoring life and order. Earth and its system and heroes were revived, and the Infinity Gems departed into the void. Exhausted, Kronos returned to exile, while Thanos drifted in cosmic purgatory until a mysterious voice beckoned him.

Thanos landed at a dark castle adorned with skulls and jewels, confronting the enigmatic Mistress Death and a spectral figure of his mother, Sui-San. He was offered a chance at redemption through renunciation and transformation, symbolized by the Infinity Wardrobe containing myriad possible forms. Faced with the ultimatum to abandon his past and embrace a new path, Thanos stepped into the Wardrobe, beginning a profound metamorphosis.

On the desert planet Sacrosanct, Thanos, now weakened and disguised as "Nil," endured harsh labor under the Universal Church of Truth's oppressive regime. He formed tentative bonds with the Shiv Sisters, Felina and Avia, and their fierce animal companions. Together, they navigated the city's corruption and planned heists to survive. Thanos' old ambitions stirred when he encountered Proxima Midnight, a former assassin of the Black Order, reigniting his desire for power.

In the T'Spiris tavern, Thanos reunited with the Black Order's remnants, Ebony Maw and Proxima. They plotted to infiltrate the Church's treasury beneath Mount Hiermonn, seeking not just wealth but the Church's mystical belief energy. Pip the Troll joined their ranks, providing teleportation skills crucial for the heist. However, the Maw demanded Thanos prove himself by killing Felina. Torn between attachment and ambition, Thanos ultimately betrayed and killed the Shiv Sisters in a brutal display of allegiance to the Order.

The Black Order assaulted the Church sanctuary, clashing with Black Knights and acolytes. Thanos escaped through secret tunnels with Pip, discovering the Trans-Dimensional Nexus, a source of infinite power. Drax arrived, declaring again his purpose to end Thanos. A fierce battle ensued, but Thanos embraced the Nexus' revelations, gaining renewed resolve. Proxima and the Maw experienced their own awakenings, with the Maw departing for a solitary path. Thanos and Proxima departed Sacrosanct aboard the Black Order's ship, leaving behind the world and their past.

Arriving on Hala, the Kree Empire's capital, Thanos assumed the identity of Captain Teren-Sas upon murdering him, infiltrating the military hierarchy. He confronted corruption and complacency, rallying soldiers against the Supreme Intelligence's inaction. Through a stirring speech and a duel with a skeptical officer, Thanos secured support for rebellion. Gamora, acting as a messenger for the Supreme Intelligence, warned of the rebellion's futility, but Thanos remained undeterred.

The rebellion ignited as dormant Sentry robots awakened, slaughtering soldiers and fracturing the Empire. Thanos claimed responsibility for activating the Sentries, using the chaos to leverage control over the Kree military. The Supreme Intelligence negotiated, but the rebellion faltered as Ronan the Accuser rallied loyalists. Battles raged, alliances shifted, and the Black Order's influence waned. On his way out, Thanos was ultimately assassinated by Char-Nak, a vengeful veteran who thought he was the Captain who crippled him. The Kree Empire remained united once more under the Supreme Intelligence's rule.

In a metaphysical interlude, Thanos confronted his mother-shade as he neared death. She mocked his failures and warned that he would be but a wraith in Death's realm. Desperate, Thanos accepted a new form from the Infinity Wardrobe, reborn into a humble humanoid body. On the Velt, a mysterious, artificially sustained world, Thanos awakened as Lorak, a man among the peaceful People. He struggled to reconcile his violent past with the pacifism and simplicity of this new life. Guided by an intense woman named Masika and her community, the Apaga, Thanos learned farming, hunting, and the rhythms of this enclosed world. He grappled with the Velt's strange artificiality, the uniform grass, the fixed sun, and the hidden machinery beneath the surface.

Thanos' violent nature resurfaced in conflicts with villagers, but he also formed deep bonds, especially with Masika and her family. Over years, he embraced a quieter existence, raising children and leading hunts. Yet tragedy struck as Masika fell ill and died, plunging Thanos into grief and rage. His cosmic heritage awakened, unleashing destructive energy that inadvertently flooded the Velt, destroying the village and drowning his family. His final moments were marked by sinking into darkness.

Thanos awakened in Death's shrine, confronted by the mother-shade who recounted his failures across worlds to search for peace. Fueled by fury, Thanos destroyed the Infinity Wardrobe and confronted Mistress Death herself. Offering fealty and recounting his bloody deeds, he pledged to reclaim the Infinity Gems and unleash devastation anew. The rejuvenated Mad Titan killed the mother-shade and received Death's kiss, and he declared the beginning of a new game.

In a Brazilian island, Thanos' massive, lifeless body was dragged ashore by Gamora, Reed Richards, and Tony Stark. Despite no signs of life, the heroes pondered the mystery of his death and the surrounding enigmatic events that SHIELD was investigating — a secret civilian shelter experiment set on the Atlantic sea floor. Tony's expression about Thanos' smile on the corpse left his fate and the cosmic balance hanging in uncertainty.
