History

Similar to most realities in the 20th centuries, except because of the presence of three, later four, intelligent dinosaur-like beings: Archie, a tyrannosaurus in a suit; Lorenzo, a triceratops in a Hawaiian shirt; Reese, and stegosaurus with a patch and proclivity for heavy weapons; and later Cyrano, a pterodactyl. These beings, who look like dinosaurs but smaller in size (although still bigger than a human) are mercenaries working with the Professor and leaving a trail of destruction on their path.

The planet also shows a proclivity to favor independent comic-books.

The dinosaurs themselves ended up being transported to Earth-1136, where they noticed how Earth-1136 was different from their own universe in many details (such as the President of the United States being a different person).

Notes

  • A satirical, self-parodic comic created by Tom Mason and first published from 1988 to 1990 by Eternity Comics, it was later retaken in 1993 by Malibu Comics (which had purchased Eternity assets). Malibu continued the story with Dinosaurs for Hire Vol. 2, and the characters eventually crossed to other universes to interact with other characters published by Malibu, notably the Protectors and the Ex-Mutants in the Genesis crossover.
  • The origin of the dinosaurs is never explained, which was apparently part of Mason's joke. It is hinted, however, that the dinosaurs were space-travelling aliens whose spacecraft crashlanded on Earth.
  • A Sega video-game was published by Malibu Interactive. In an interview with Wackoid, Mason claimed Fox had also optioned for a cartoon series, which was eventually not produced.
