History

The Ultraverse imprint was a shared-universe launched by Malibu Comics in 1993 during the 90s's comics book boom, introduced a tightly interconnected universe with characters like Prime, Hardcase, and The Strangers.

Declining comic sales in the mid-1990s led to Malibu’s acquisition by Marvel Comics in November 1994, mainly for its advanced coloring studio. Marvel integrated the Ultraverse into its own multiverse as Earth-93060 and attempted crossovers with Marvel characters, culminating in the "Black September" storyline, which rebooted some series but (overall) failed to sustain interest.

The Ultraverse line ended in 1997 with a final one-shot "Ultraverse Future Shock" wrapping up unresolved plots.
