History
This reality's history diverged from that of Earth-616 when the X-Men were returning to Earth aboard the Starcore Project Shuttle and were facing a solar flare. Instead of piloting the shuttle herself, Jean Grey agreed to let Wolverine do it, so he was the one who got possessed by the Phoenix Force instead of her. Running away to deal vengeance upon Weapon X, he was followed by Jean and Scott, asking them to kill him once they found him. The Phoenix Force passed from Logan to Scott, whom Wolverine had then stabbed in the back, killing him. The Phoenix Force then went back to him, but he used its power to disintegrate himself in front of Jean.[1]
