History

To prevent Loki from using the Cosmic Cube to assert his rule over Asgard and Earth, Thor shattered the cube and scattered it across Earth. When A.I.M., the Sinister Six, and Hydra learned of this, they all sought to control a piece of the artifact. Hoping to prevent the Cosmic Cube shards from falling into the wrong hands, the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., and X-Men to split up across the world and fight the various villains, ultimately reigning victorious in their mission.^[1]

Later, Loki sought to use the power of the Wand of Watoomb to bring about his dominance, leading Doctor Strange to recruit the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop his schemes. Despite Loki seemingly gaining the upper hand initially, the heroes emerged victorious once more.^[2]
