History
This reality diverged from Earth-616 after Magik lost her Soulsword to S'ym, who took over control of Limbo from her. With her sword shattered, Illyana lost the ability to teleport out of Limbo and got trapped there along with her companions at the time, Rahne Sinclair, Dani Moonstar and Madelyne Pryor. Illyana lacked the strength to defeat S'ym, so the four women picked a fort to use as a defensive positions against the Demons. Rahne and Dani perished within the first few years, with Madelyne following them shortly after, leaving Illyana by herself. At some point Krakoa fell and Warlock escaped to Limbo as the only survivor. He and Magik found that the Techno-Organic Virus somehow made its way into Limbo and infested all of the demons, so Illyana created a spell using Warlock's essence, which the demons were vulnerable to. They spend decades making dents in their numbers through various means, although never able to breach their stronghold.
Because of unpredictable temporal nature of Limbo, one day past versions of Illyana and her companions showed up at her doorstep, who had only suffered a defeat from S'ym mere hours ago. The two Magiks immediately got along with each other well, at which point demons tried to make bargain with the younger Illyana if only she gave her older self up. The two women laughed it off and the demons came back in full force, led by S'ym himself. The older Illyana offered him a one-on-one fight and S'ym accepted. He seemed to quickly gain the upper hand and wounded Illyana, only for her to reveal that direct access allowed Warlock to burn the Techno-Organic Virus from the inside. It melted off all demons including S'ym, whom the older Magik finally killed in her long-awaited revenge.
Afterwards, the past visitors offered to take the older Illyana with them, but she was afraid of causing timeline disruptions and decided to find her way back to Krakoa herself, wishing them well before they departed on their own journey.[1]See Also
