History
In the Sixth Century AD, Merlin sought to use a black metallic meteorite, the legendary starstone, which had fallen to Earth some three hundred years before, to craft a plethora of magic weapons/items in the defense of Camelot.[1] He would commission a cousin of Arthur to fashion four mighty battlements out of the meteoric element with his smithing skills for the wizard to ensorcel with mighty power.
Upon the completion of his task, the archmage bade Percival choose which amongst the four he would take as his own while consigning the rest to oblivion in the Orphelus where they were once forged.[2]
Modern Times[]
King Arthur's wayward offspring, Mordred, would opt to seek out the rest of the ebony relics so that he might undertake his most ambitious design yet. But to do that it was first needed to refill the lake of blood with that of his father's other descendants born in the current era as scholars and Arthurian romantics teaching at institutes of higher education.[3] To that end he would instigate a disaster in New York City so as to draw attentions of the Black Knight with the intention of stealing the Ebony Blade from him.Properties
This item, beyond the enchantments of unbreakability like its sibling creations, could endow individuals with greater knowledge and understanding of current situations so as to never be caught unawares while undergoing the challenges ahead. Drinking from its toxic drink instilled knowledge of whatever it was the partaker desired to know.[4]
