History
The life story of this Eddie Brock mirrored that of his Earth-616 counterpart up until Knull's invasion of Earth. Unlike his counterpart, however, this Eddie abdicated the King in Black's throne after defeating Knull and remained bonded to the Light, setting him on a different path. As the Illuminated, Eddie slayed the revitalized Chaos King, used the Light to remake the Symbiote Hive-Mind into a place to think and heal, protected the Symbiote Hive from the Symbiote Revenge Squad, and explored unknown parts of the universe.
After finding his way to the Lightforce Dimension,[5] Eddie sent his consciousness back in time to possess the Black Suit, intending to pilot the unconscious body of Spider-Man to prevent the deaths of two security guards he let die years ago; a transgression he considered his "original sin". Instead of doing that, however, the Illuminated decided to reveal the Sin-Eater's true identity to his past self in order to set him up for success, accidentally enabling Jack O'Lantern to kill Spider-Man and the Black Suit.[3]
With the timeline radically altered by the absence of a Spider-Man and a Venom, the Illuminated was approached by the Eventuality, who offered his help to put things right.[6] Guided by the Eventuality, the Illuminated tried to change his past again, ultimately succeeding. The erasure of his "original sin" from the timeline allowed him to ascend to a higher plane of existence.[7]See Also
